To celebrate the launch of our new tap-to-pay debit and credit cards, we wanted to do more than just talk about convenience; we wanted to support one of our local member businesses, Di Luna Candles. So, we decided to surprise shoppers by covering the cost of their purchases and spread joy—one tap at a time.
A Saturday Full of Surprises
We visited the Di Luna Candles + Goods gift shop, located at 3061 N Campbell Ave in Tucson, on a bustling Saturday during their popular Saturdays Market. During these markets, the Di Luna team invites local coffee trucks, artists, and vendors to set up in the parking lot right outside their gift shop. The market has become a favorite local tradition, drawing in shoppers to explore and support a number of local vendors in one stop. Inside the gift shop, shoppers can find stunning handcrafted candles, bath salts, diffusers, and wax melts—along with goods from over 50 small businesses, with an emphasis on products from women-owned businesses. And it wasn’t just the products that lit up the room that day.
Joy, Candles, and Many Smiling Faces
As shoppers browsed, our team quietly stepped in. When they reached the register, we surprised them with the news: “Your purchase is on us, courtesy of Vantage West!” The reactions? Pure magic.
But the surprises didn’t stop there. We also crashed a candle-making workshop to surprise the attendees with free candles. Plus, if a shopper turned out to be a Vantage West member, we added an extra candle to their purchase for free. It was our way of saying thank you for your continued loyalty and for choosing to bank with a financial institution that values community and local engagement.
